Due to poor financial condition of the family, the father decided to make a living in the country by wading across a vast ocean. Malin's father never returned to his home so that his mother had to replace the position of Malin's father to work.
When he was adult because of feeling sorry for her mother who worked hard. Malin decided to go wander by a merchant ship in order to become rich after returning home later. Malin's mother was headed toward the ship. Once close enough, his mother saw scars on his arm so she believed he was the right person, the more convinced his mother that he was approached Malin Kundang. " Malin Kundang, my son, why did you go so long without sending massage for me?" She said , hugged Malin Kundang. But seeing an old woman dressed in shabby and dirty hug him, Malin Kundang became angry even though he knew that the old woman was her mother, because she was embarrassed when it 's known to his wife.
